Grim Dawn is an action role-playing game developed and published by Crate Entertainment on Feburary 25, 2016. It offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, which meets different players' demands. By Feburary 2022, Grim Dawn had sold over 7 million units.

Set in a dark fictional world on the Victorian era, humanity is about extinction due to a trans-dimensional warfare. It starts with human begin to contact Aetherial from another dimension and bring Aetherial to the Earth. People find that Aetherials can possess humans and their ability can be enhanced after the spirit was removed. Then, more and more Aetherials are released into the world, and they intend to use humanity for their purposes.

Another race called Cthonians has noticed this and declared war to destroy human before they are dominated completely by by Aetherials, which causes enormous numbers of casualties to population.

Players, who are survivors, need to take revenges on the invaders.
